Sarah
Thompson is a literacy worker who stands for a society that guarantees
the rights of all. To this end she has taken up the politics of
democratic renewal, working to vest sovereignty in the people as the
legitimate decision makers in society. She has fought under this
banner in several elections.
The question of renewing the political process, she points out, is
important for the professionals and middle class who are marginalized
by the political process. Electors can vote for one business-party or
another but have no say in how the country is governed because these
parties form a cartel-party system that brokers deals behind the backs
of the people to stay in power themselves.
Sarah also stands for renewal of Canada's international relations based
on peaceful relations between nations and non-interference in each
others internal affairs. She is active in the anti-war movement and
was part of the Canadian delegation to the Korea Truth
Commission's War Crimes Tribunal which investigated and condemned U.S.
war crimes against the Korean people.
